LUBBOCK, TX -- J.C. Penney announced Wednesday that it close 33 stores and lay off 2,000 employees. According to a copy of the list published by USA Today, Lubbock’s J.C. Penney will not be closed due to underperformance. None of the closures will be in Texas.
J.C. Penney put out a written statement that said it hopes to save $65 million per year with the closures.
