Police Make Arrest for Saturday Sexual Assault

Detectives have made an arrest in connection with a robbery and sexual assault reported at the Tobacco Express Smoke Shop on 34th St.

LUBBOCK, TX -- Lubbock Police confirm they've made an arrest in connection with a combined robbery and sexual assault reported Saturday at a local smoke shop.

At 1:13 Saturday afternoon, officers responded to the Tobacco Express at 3816 34th St. They say a black male entered the store, displayed a gun, and forced the female clerk to open the register. He then allegedly took the clerk around to the back of the store, where he sexually assaulted her.

Police confirm they've arrested 23 year old Zavier Allen in connection with Saturday's attack.

It is unknown if this crime is connected to another two robberies at Lubbock smoke shops on Sunday.

The first was at the Tobacco Road on Parkway Ave. Shortly before 9 pm, police say a black male leaned in through the drive-through window, revealing a gun. demanding cash and product. The suspect was not located.

About an hour later, officers responded to a robbery call at the Smokin' J's on 50th St. Police say the suspect, described as a hispanic male, forced his way inside as the store clerk was leaving. Once inside he proceeded to beat the clerk. The suspect then grabbed an unknown amount of money and fled the scene. The clerk was transported to UMC with moderate injuries. This suspect has also not been located.
