LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech earned its highest-ever ranking in the NSCAA Coaches Poll as the Red Raiders prepare for the first round of the Big 12 Championship.
The Red Raiders checked in at No. 11 as the final regular season poll was released Tuesday afternoon. The ranking comes after Texas Tech shutout Texas 1-0 in the regular season finale last week at the John Walker Soccer Complex and is up one spot from last week.
Tech (16-1-2, 6-0-2 Big 12) ended the regular season with four consecutive shutouts and allowed just six goals in 19 matches. The Red Raiders finished a program-best second in the final Big 12 standings and now face No. 7 seed TCU in the opening round of the conference tournament in Kansas City.
First kick for Tech's opening round match against the Horned Frogs is set for 8 p.m. at the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City.
