LUBBOCK, Texas - After advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and capturing a school record 18 victories, the Red Raider soccer team appeared at No. 17 in the NSCAA Postseason Rankings released today.
It marks the highest postseason ranking in program history after Texas Tech wrapped up the 2012 season with a No. 25 ranking – its first appearance in the postseason top-25 in school history.
Tech (18-2-3, 6-0-2 Big 12) finished runner-up in the Big 12, going unbeaten with two draws in league play before advancing to the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season. The Red Raiders shutout Minnesota at the John Walker Soccer Complex 3-0 before ending in a draw against Texas A&M in the second round in Chapel Hill, N.C.
With one of the top defenses in the country, Tech allowed just nine goals in 23 matches while tying for the NCAA lead with a school record 17 shutouts.
Three Red Raiders were named to the All-Big 12 First Team while junior defender Jaelene Hinkle was named an NSCAA All-American earlier this week. Tech is one of just two Big 12 programs to have at least one All-American in each of the last two seasons.
Tech went 10-1 in home games where they outscored opponents 32-4 at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
