Report: Baker Mayfield to Transfer

Freshman quarterback decides to leave after one season at Texas Tech according to YNN's Mike Berman.
Freshman quarterback Baker Mayfield made seven starts for Texas Tech but it appears he will not play another game for the Red Raiders.

Mayfield telling Mike Berman of YNN Austin he has decided to transfer.

Berman posted on Twitter that "Mayfield says he's transferring due to miscommunication with the Tech coaching staff.  He wants a fresh start somewhere else."

He also told Berman he had not made a decision on where he would transfer.

Texas Tech has yet to comment on the situation.

Mayfield ranked second in the Big 12 in passing attempts (218-for-340), second in passing yards (2,315) and third in the league with four 300-yard passing performances.

He became the first true freshman walk-on to start at quarterback in a season opener for a BCS program when he passed for 413 yards on 43-of-60 passing with four touchdowns in Tech's opener at SMU.
