LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball coach Don Flora announced Friday the rosters for the annual Red & Black Match that will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the United Spirit Arena.
“It’s always exciting to start camp and we’ve had a very productive couple weeks so far,” Flora said. “Saturday will be a great time to showcase the hard work we’ve seen throughout camp and our staff is looking forward to seeing the players step up and compete.”
The Black squad, coached by associate head coach Jojit Coronel, will be highlighted by returning starters Emily Ruetter, Aubree Piper and Rachel Brummitt along with fellow returner Meghan Stacy and newcomer Jenna Allen on the outside. Coronel will also have freshmen Marguerite Grubb and Courtney Ensch as well as returners Whitney Ford and Brianna Grant as well.
The Red team, meanwhile, will be coached by assistant coach Beth Falls, who will have returners Breeann David, Mikia Mills and Nicole Hragyil as her disposal as well as newcomers Lauren Douglass, Carlie Foust and Katie Daffer. Fellow returners Sam Podraza, Ellen Sorrells and Emily Wright complete the roster.
Fans wishing to attend the scrimmage should enter the facility through the United Spirit Arena north doors (street level). Seating will be available on the main court.
The Red Raiders open the 2013 in exactly one week at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Weber State. Tech will face Seattle and UC Riverside next Friday afternoon (Aug. 30) before closing the tournament the following day against Grand Canyon and the host Wildcats.
