LUBBOCK, TX -- Mirna Luna, 27, of Los Angeles, pleaded guilty Friday in Lubbock federal court to one count of misprision of a felony. It’s a fancy way of saying she tried to cover up a crime.

Luna admitted she was helping Oscar Moreno-Cornejo of El Salvador smuggle illegal aliens across the country. Luna was stopped by a DPS Trooper near Muleshoe in October with 12 illegal immigrants plus Morenjo-Cornejo in the SUV she was driving. Court records say she was expecting to be paid $100 for every immigrant she delivered.

Moreno-Cornejo pleaded guilty in December. Luna will be sentenced at a later date to no more than three years in federal prison.
