Slaton Man Indicted For Shooting Cop

Jeremy Moor, 32, of Slaton was indicted Tuesday by a Lubbock County grand jury for the shooting of Lubbock police officer Timothy Varner.

LUBBOCK, TX -- Jeremy Moor, 32, of Slaton was indicted Tuesday by a Lubbock County grand jury for the shooting of Lubbock police officer Timothy Varner on the night of October 12. 

Varner is recovering from his injuries and has been released from University Medical Center.  A police report says Moor was holding a man at gunpoint in the 1100 block of 16th Street.  When officers arrived, the report says Moor fired several times at Varner

Varner returned fire, injuring Moor.  Moor has since been taken from UMC to the county jail.

The grand jury charged Moor with attempted capital murder, and aggravated assault on a public servant for shooting at Varner.  Moor was also indicted for aggravated assault for pointing a gun at Juan Jose Florez, 52. 

Moor was held in the jail Tuesday in lieu of bonds totaling more than $750,000.
