SPC Hosts Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Event on Dec. 3

South Plains College will host its annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on Dec. 3 (Tuesday) at the entrance to the college. The event is free and open to the public.

LEVELLAND – South Plains College will host its annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on Dec. 3 (Tuesday) at the entrance to the college. The event is free and open to the public.

 

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with students from the ABC School kindergarten class singing traditional Christmas carols. A special donation to the Hockley County Family Outreach will be presented by the student organization that raised the most money.

 

Dr. Kelvin Sharp, President of South Plains College, will light the tree at 6:10 p.m.

 

Santa Claus is expected to arrive via a horse-driven carriage. Participants will be able to visit with Santa in the Sundown Room area of the Student Center. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Free carriage rides will be available to interested patrons during Santa’s visit.

 

Entertainment will be provided by Commercial Music student Derek Bohl, guitarist, in the Sundown Room. Outside, the Ballroom Dance Team will perform for patrons while waiting for carriage rides.
