One man is dead after a late morning shooting.
Police and sheriff responded to a call on 83rd and avenue P after police say the owner of a used appliance shop was forced to defend himself from his step-son.
Sheriff investigators tell KLBK that the store owner Robert Pool had to defend himself from his step-son Richard Lee Daniel after they got in a fight this morning around 11 oclock.
That fight turned for the worst when Robert Pool is said to have fatally shot Richard Daniel out of self defense.
We're told that there were at least three people inside at the time of the incident.
We were able to talk to a few family members and they want it to be clear for Robert Pool, this was self defense..
"He was defending himself, he was defending my grandmother" said Heather Daniel, a family member.
"I want people to know that its self defense, and that people should not bash my grandpas company and that he had to do what he had to do and he didn't do it on purpose."
Richard Daniels was sent to the hospital following the incident where he later died. His family says they've had problems in the past with him that they've sought help... but had nothing to show for it.
"We asked for help from all kinds of people, the parole officers, police, everything" said Shannon Tyson another family member.
From people they know and from the rest of the community, they just ask for prayers.
"Pray for me and my family and my grandma and my grandpa and my other grandpa in Idalou, Richard Daniel is his son."
Family wants to emphasize that this was an act of self defense. They also believe that Richard Daniel's actions were drug related and urge people to stay away from things like k2 and other drugs.
