Strut for the Mutts Raises Money for the Haven Animal Care Shelter

Strut for Mutts lets you get outside for a walk with your dogs to help raise money for animals in need of a home currently at the Haven Animal Care Shelter.

Strut for the Mutts is a mile long walk with your dog to help raise money for the Haven Animal Care Shelter.

Brenda Wilbanks, The Haven Founder & Executive Director, said the money will go to day to day operations and special needs.

"Most of it helps with veterinarian bills. We take in a lot of animals that are special needs that may come in with a broken leg or may be ill so we take them immediately to the vet and try to get them taken care of."

Wilbanks, said you can also volunteer to walk a dog in need of a home.

"We'll be bringing some Haven dogs and if someone wants to sign up to walk a Haven dog they can do that."

You might even find a new furry friend.

"A lot of times people see one that they want and they come out here later and adopt or they fill out an application there."

Registration is 25 dollars and automatically enters you into a raffle.

"We have a large number of raffle prizes. Some are gift baskets like these and others are gift certificates and other things. We have a lot of really neat prizes."

Strut for the Mutts is Havens largest fund raiser of the year.

"Every little bit we can do in this fund raiser then that's more animals we can help."

Strut for the Mutts starts at 10 am Saturday September 14th at Higginbotham Park at 19th & Quaker.

Pre-registration is over so you will need to get there a little early to sign up if you haven't already.

If you want to walk with a Haven dog give them a call to let them know ahead of time by calling 806-763-0092.

The 25 dollar registration fee includes a t-shirt and a bandanna for your dog and all the money goes to the animals at the shelter.
