Students React to News of Hance's Retirement Plans

Many students who attended the press conference Friday were sad to learn that Chancellor Hance will be retiring, many wondering who will fill such big shoes. KLBK's Alison Morris reports.
Many Tech students said they are sad to hear they are losing the leadership of a man who did a great deal for their university.

Lots of students attended the press conference, including current members of Hance's old fraternity, all with well wishes for the chancellor's retirement.

Other students sad to hear the news, remembering what a great influence the chancellor had on their decision to become a Red Raider, like Caitlyn Cooney

"I'm really sad,” Cooney said. “He was part of the reason that I came to tech actually. He gave us his personal number saying to call him if there was ever any emergency. He was a very personable man and I’m going to miss him a lot."

"My main concern is who is going to replace a guy like that,” said student Brayden Rose. “Because he was very good, knew a lot of great people and had a lot of great connections."

Harry Sullivan praised the work Hance has done.

"It's just a great thing for this university that he gets to leave on a high note with the budget that he's brought and the students that he's brought in," said Sullivan.

No word yet on who Hance’s replacement will be.
