LUBBOCK, Texas – The Red Raider soccer team climbed to No. 15 in the National Soccer Coaches Association rankings released on Tuesday. The top-15 ranking comes after Texas Tech went 2-0 this weekend with shutout victories over UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara at the Jack in the Box Classic in Albuquerque, N.M.
Texas Tech improved to 9-1-0 on the season with the pair of victories marking the best start in program history. Tech has won six-straight while shutting four consecutive opponents.
The No. 15 Red Raiders now set their sights on the start of Big 12 play as Tech travels to Ames, Iowa to open conference play at Iowa State Friday. Tech will then face Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla. on Sunday before returning home from the season-long six match road swing.
Texas Tech also appeared in the Top Drawer Soccer rankings at No. 14 on Monday. Meanwhile, sophomore Alli Murphy, who scored two goals and added an assist this weekend, was named to the publication’s national Team of the Week.
