TCU was Texas Tech's first big test.
Tech starting out really hot in the first minute of the game. Baker Mayfield found Kenny Williams and he did the rest, busting a 50-yard touchdown, which put the Red Raiders up 7-0.
Then, Dartwan Bush laid out Trevone Boykin for the defenseive stop.
Tech took over, but settled for a field goal. Ryan Bustin made the 39-yarder to go up 10-0.
In the second quarter, Baker Mayfield's pass was intercepted by Kevin White at the TCU 42.
But, "if you can do it, so can I" said JJ Gaines who picked off Boykin at Tech's 41 and returned for 23 yards.
But nothing came of that and Tech went into halftime with a 10-nothing shutout lead.
In the second half, TCU finally got on the board with a Jaden Oberkrom 37-yarder. 10-3 Texas Tech.
In the fourth, B.J. Catalon got the hand off and broke in for the score. All tied at 10.
And then with four minutes left in the fourth, Bradley Marquez hauled it one in for the go-ahead touchdown. Tech goes up 17-10.
Tech would go on to upset the Horned Frogs, 20-10.
