Texas Tech Football Honoring Veterans at Last Home Game

Texas Tech joins the Lone Survivor Foundation, Military Order of the Purple Heart, and Under Armor to honor veterans at their game against Kansas State

The Lone Survivor Foundation was founded to help veterans find support when they return home from war.

Blayne Beal at Texas Tech Athletics said Lone Survivor Founder, Marcus Luttrell, will be among the over 400 purple heart recipients being honored at the game.

"This is going to be the largest gathering of purple hearts on American soil and so we're really excited about that. It's a great way to honor them, their service to their country on this Veterans Day, and to have that large of a group in our stadium is going to make for a very special environment."

Under Armor created special jerseys for the game that will be auctioned off the day after at www.texastech.com with the proceeds going to the Lone Survivor Foundation.

"You'll be able to bid on those jerseys and the last couple of times we have this type of game with the wounded warrior project in years past it's been a tremendous success. We've raised a lot of money for those foundations so we certainly encourage all our fans to log on and buy those jerseys."

Texas Tech will also honor seniors playing their last game at the Jones and veterans will be welcome across the stadium.

"You'll see a lot of patriotism around the stadium Saturday. The boy scouts are coming out and placing flags around and so it's going to be a great day to celebrate our country and to honor the sacrifices of our veterans."

The last home game at Tech could also mean a new stadium record as fans come out to say goodbye to the team and thank you to veterans.

"We fully anticipate setting a stadium record for attendance this year in our stadium...so just a lot of great things for folks to come out and celebrate both on the Texas Tech football side and for our veterans."
