Homecoming at Texas Tech is a week long event with activities all over the campus and Eric Lee, Homecoming Coordinator, said each year has a different theme.
"Our theme this year is Tech loves the 90's. So it's everything that has to do with the 90's, kind of a throw back to our childhood so it's a fun theme and people really get to be creative and make their own thing."
The campus is covered with homecoming decorations.
"All the organizations that participate they make a banner or a spirit board dealing with our theme this year."
The night before the game there is a big bonfire and pep rally where Shannon Killough, Homecoming Chair, said students, faculty, and the community are invited to get pumped up for the game.
"That's where they announce runner up for King and Queen and the cheerleaders and pep squad go out there and perform, the band performs and so it's just a time to get ready for the game Saturday morning."
An early kickoff time for the game against Iowa State Saturday morning means no traditional parade but everyone is invited to the Raidergate tailgate before the game.
"So we really like to welcome students to come out to that at 7 am on Saturday mornings."
And after Raidergate Lee said it's time to root for the Red Raiders.
"We walk over as a group of students over to the game and there we just cheer for our team."
Kickoff for the Homecoming game against Iowa State is 11 am Saturday morning at the Jones.
Raidergate is in lot R-1 behind the Chemistry and Biology buildings at the cross streets of 15 & Detroit.
Students can still get passes for their cars and the public is free to walk through and join in.
The community is also encouraged to come out to the pep rally and bonfire at Urbansky Park Friday October 11th at 9 pm.
You can park in the rec center parking lot or West of Indiana.
