LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech softball team will put its undefeated fall record to the test Tuesday evening when the Red Raiders host West Texas A&M in a 6:30 p.m. first pitch at Rocky Johnson Field.
The 10-inning contest will be Tech’s sixth of its allotted eight games for the fall as the Red Raiders have swept a doubleheader with Odessa College while also picking up wins over Abilene Christian, Weatherford College and Howard College.
Despite a young roster that features mainly freshmen and sophomores in the lineup, Tech has outscored opponents, 38-13, so far this fall. The Red Raiders are coming off a 15-3 rout of Howard College on Oct. 11 that marked their largest margin of victory this fall.
West Texas A&M, meanwhile, regularly ranks among the top softball programs at the Division-II level as the Lady Buffs wrapped 2012 with a 44-13 overall record and hosted the NCAA South Central II Regional.
Tech closes its fall slate on Thursday and Friday against crosstown Lubbock Christian. All fall games at Rocky Johnson Field are free admission for all fans.
