Texas Tech Takes on Kansas State

Lady Raiders, Wildcats Tip Off at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports Southwest Plus
LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas Tech women’s basketball team returns home on Tuesday after two-straight road games to take on Kansas State at 7 p.m. at United Spirit Arena.
The game will be broadcast on Texas Tech TV on FOX Sports Southwest Plus.
The Lady Raiders (6-9, 0-4 Big 12) are looking for their first conference win under head coach Candi Whitaker following two losses on the road vs. No. 9 Iowa State and Kansas. It is the first home game for Tech since taking on TCU on Jan. 5.
The Wildcats (6-9, 0-4) are also looking for their first Big 12 win this season. Kansas State lost 61-50 at No. 22 Oklahoma on Saturday night.
Texas Tech and Kansas State are meeting for the 25th time overall and 24th as Big 12 Conference opponents with the series tied at 12-12. It’s been a series of close games over the past few years with the two teams splitting the last two seasons. Each of the last nine games have been decided by nine points or less – including two games going into overtime.
Three of the last five games against each other have been decided by two points or less.
The game matches up two of the league’s top guards in Tech’s Amber Battle and K-State’s international freshman Leticia Romero.
Battle is fourth in the conference in scoring with 17.3 points per game while leading the Big 12 in defensive rebounds per game (6.1) and second in total rebounds per game (8.3). She’s scored in double digits in 13 of Tech’s 15 games. Battle led Tech with 15 points and five rebounds in Saturday night’s game at Kansas – her 11th time to score 15 points or more. She’s eclipsed the 20-point mark five times.
Romero comes in as one of the top freshmen scorers in the Big 12 Conference while leading the Wildcats in points (13.4), rebounds (6.2), assists (4.7), 3-pointers made (20), free throws made (49) and steals (2.0). She recorded her second double-double of the season on Saturday at Oklahoma with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
