Arvidsson, Hill Finish as Top Two Individuals
AUSTIN – Junior golfer Elin Arvidsson fired a 1-under par 69 and sophomore Kimmy Hill shot a career-best 3-under 67 to finish as the top two individuals on Tuesday and lead Texas Tech to the 2013 Challenge at Onion Creek.
Tuesday’s win marks the first team title for the Lady Raiders since winning the Mountain View Collegiate in March. It’s also the eighth tournament win in the last four seasons under head coach JoJo Robertson.
Arvidsson was the only player to finish the tournament under par (2-under, 72-67-69—208) and notched her first career individual title. She played her final 10 holes at 1-under par to hang on by four strokes over teammate Kimmy Hill. Hill finished off her career day with five birdies including one on the final hole to finish in second by one stroke.
Junior newcomer Stephanie Bertelsen also finished in the top 10 in a tie for seventh at 8-over par (71-72-75—218) while redshirt freshman Victoria Uresti shot her career best – a 5-over 75 for the final qualifying score of the day to help seal the three-stroke win over Miami.
Senior Hannah Arnold finished tied for 40th overall (76-79-76—231).
NEXT: Tech will travel to Norman this weekend for The Schooner Fall Classic at Jimmy Austin OU Golf Club.
