Texas Tech wins first Big 12 game

Red Raiders beat Oklahoma for first conference win.
Texas Tech rode Javarez Willis' game high 21 points to its first conference win of the season, downing Oklahoma 65-47 Saturday night at the United Spirit Arena.

The Sooners opened the game with a 5-0 lead before a Jordan Tolbert dunk finally put Tech on the board.

After that, Willis started to take over, draining a three with just over eight minutes left to tie the game at 16. OU (13-11, 3-9 Big 12) took a four-point lead after that, but a Willis lay up cut the lead to two at 22-20 before he hit a three from the left corner to give Tech its first lead of the game at 23-22. Another Tolbert dunk capped off a 7-0 Tech run to end the half and send the Red Raiders into the break up 25-22.

Willis' 12 first half points gave Tech (8-16, 1-11) its first halftime lead in a conference game this season.

The Red Raiders stayed hot in the second half, going on a 20-8 run to spread their lead to 16 points, thanks in large part to Robert Lewandowski who finished with 16 points and six rebounds. Tech led by as much as 20 with just over a minute to go.

Texas Tech will try to keep the momentum going when it hosts Texas A&M (12-12, 3-9) this Tuesday in their last scheduled matchup as conference rivals.
