Top 5 Tech Games of 2012: #3 West Virginia Stomp

Fifth ranked West Virginia came into their 2012 game Match-up with Texas Tech as the Belle of the Big 12 ball.
Fifth ranked West Virginia came into their 2012 game Match-up with Texas Tech as the Belle of the Big 12 ball.

Having just beat Texas in Austin the week before, they were looking to complete the Texas two-Step with Heisman front runner Geno Smith, but the Red Raiders had other plans.

What many expected to be a ping pong offensive match up saw the Red Raiders take the early lead on a 39 yard touchdown pass to Jace Amaro. And when the Mountaineers failed to score, Seth Doege took advantage once again and the Red Raiders showed, they meant business.

As everyone expected, West Virginia would eventually find the endzone but it would be the last time for a long time.

The Red Raider onslaught continued, baffling Dana Holgorsen and his Heisman contending quarterback.

Smith, who looked like a world beater in previous weeks, had his world crash down around him as the Tech defense rendered him pedestrian.

When the dust settled, it was Seth Doege who looked like the Heisman hopeful throwing for six touchdowns, while Geno Smith's Heisman Chances vanished in the West Texas wind.

Game number three on your countdown, a 49-14 Win against West Virginia.
