LUBBOCK, TX- More than 5,000 children in Lubbock will be receiving presents this year.

Among them will be Rachel Proa's chidlren.

"It means a lot," said Proa.

Proa had to take maternity leave.

That cut into her paycheck.

Toys for Tots rescued her chidrens Christmas.

"I wasn't able to afford the bills and get them any good presents. But, it's just a great blessing."

Thanks to the Marines, the Salvation army, and the generosity of the community, together they gathered nearly 20,000 toys for those in need.

"It's very humbling, to be honest."

Amy Siegfried was one of many marines who worked hard to make the Toys for Tots program successful this year.

"People are just happy that we're able to give out so much this year," said Siegfried.

Justin Eartherly with the Salvation Army did too.

"This is a special time of the year for us because it allows us to help children in Lubbock that really might not have a great Christmas without us, said Eartherly.

Earthery says that not only do the families recieve toys, they are also given vouchers for the food bank.

"It allows them to have a nice meal on Christmas day when they might go without," said Eatherly.

Eatherly says there are many, many people to thank for making it possible.

"It's going to be a good Christmas for everyone."
