When an officer arrived on the scene, Lubbock Police say the suspect raised his weapon at the officer. The officer then fired at and hit the suspect.
Once the scene was secured, two victims with gunshot wounds were found. LPD says the victims and the suspect were transported to UMC with life threatning injuries.
UMC officials say that due to the criminal nature of the scene, they will not be releasing any information about the victims condition at this time.
Police are asking everyone to avoid the area of the 3300 block of Duke at Indiana as investigations continue.
Charges on the suspect are pending.
A neighbor in the area said he heard a gunshot, and then ran outside to see what was going on. "I was like, 'Woah, what's going on?,'" He said. "We came and stayed on the corner and then the police, with their like AK's I guess, came running over here and say, 'Everybody go inside!' So everybody took off running."
Sergeant Jason Lewis with Lubbock Police said there's still a lot for the police to put together. "As soon as the officer arrived, the man did raise the gun at the officer and the officer drew his firearm and fired at the man. At this point, it's unclear whether the man had fired his weapon at the officer or not," Sergeant Lewis said.
Police were aided by the DPS helicopter as they canvased the crime scene Friday. Part of Indiana was still blocked off around 10 Friday night.
