Unemployment Down While Labor Force Grows in Lubbock

According to number released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission Lubbock’s unemployment rate for December was 4.3%.
LUBBOCK, TX -- According to number released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission Lubbock’s unemployment rate for December was 4.3%.  That compares with 4.7% in December of 2012.

The commission estimated that Lubbock’s total labor force was 150,100 with 143,700 of them having a job.  That left 6,400 Lubbock-area people looking for work in December.  The number of people in Lubbock’s workforce increased year-over-year but so did the number of available jobs. 

Lubbock had the fourth best employment rate in Texas for December.
