Vehicles Vandalized Throughout Central Lubbock

Lubbock Police are on the lookout for whoever's responsible for shooting out car windows within the past week.

Lubbock Police are on the lookout for a vandal shooting out car windows with a BB gun.

In the past week, 27 cases have been reported to police. The majority took place in the Clapp Park neighborhood.

"Maybe they live there, maybe that's just where they like to hangout," says Sgt. Jason Lewis of L.P.D. "But, it is kind of concentrated."

Most of the targeted cars happened to be parked on the street.

"If you can avoid parking on the street, please do," Lewis advised. "If you can put your car in a garage, obviously that's ideal. A lot of people can't do that, but, the worst case scenario is parking on the street."

L.P.D. says there may be more incidents than what they know of. That's because victims don't always report these kinds of crimes.

"It's just enough that it doesn't quite make insurance deductibles," Lewis says. "So it's really just a pain in the rear for people to have the windows shot out of their cars, that's what this amounts to."

And so that's why police are asking -- if you see something, say something. If you have any information about who might be responsible, you're asked to call the Lubbock Police Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
