Woman, 19, Died In Floyd Co. Crash

LOCKNEY, TX -- DPS Troopers were called to the scene of a deadly crash Wednesday morning just south of Lockney. A 2001 Ford Explorer crashed at the intersection of U.S. Highway 70 and County Road 162.

Viola Elvira Saucedo, 19, of Childress was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Clinton James Smith, 21, of Childress was listed in serious condition at University Medical Center. A third passenger was treated and released.

DPS said the Explorer crossed the center median and hit a drainage culvert.  It rolled over several time ejecting both Smith and his male passenger.  Saucedo was trapped inside the vehicle which caught fire after the crash.
