Amy Koczera is originally from the small, coastal town of Dartmouth, MA and attended school at Suffolk University in Boston, MA where she studied Broadcast Journalism and Philosophy. If you listen closely to her reporting…you might even hear her Boston accent come out!
Before joining the KAMC News team as a dayside reporter, she spent many years writing for her local newspaper in southern New England, SouthCoast Today, and became their travel columnist while studying abroad in the Czech Republic. Amy has always had a passion for international news and foreign policy and brought her interests to fruition through her role as the World News Editor of her university’s newspaper, The Suffolk Journal.
After doing various internships at the Massachusetts State House and the Fall River County Court House, she decided to apply her judicial and legislative skills to her journalism career – focusing on global news, politics, medical and environmental reporting.
From there, Amy decided to dive into the exciting world of broadcast journalism. She became a podcast host at Suffolk Free Radio where she produced and edited the podcast “Pollution Solutions” – focusing on topics related to climate change and protecting the environment. Soon she became a reporter/producer at Suffolk University’s Studio 73 for SU News. She was also a student correspondent to NECN, reporting live on the streets of Boston. Amy also interned with the Special Projects department at WHDH 7News in Boston.
Amy has always enjoyed the outdoors and spent some time as an adventure photographer and whitewater rafting guide with CrabApple Whitewater in the Berkshires in Massachusetts. In her free time she likes running, hiking and being active outside. She’s also an avid musician, playing piano, viola and violin whenever she gets the chance.
