Jaxie Pidgeon joined the KLBK News Team as a Reporter in August 2022.
A true Texas native, Jaxie grew up in Plano, spent her college years in Austin and has now made her way up to Lubbock to share all the happenings across the South Plains.
Jaxie graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism and a minor in Sports Media with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2022. She was inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha, the national honor society in journalism and mass communication. Only eight undergraduate journalism students were initiated.
Throughout college, Jaxie gained experience both on-air and behind the scenes at Texas Student Television, the only student-run, FCC-licensed, digitally broadcasted college TV station in the country. She served as sports director, executive producer, reporter, show host and crew member for the sports department. In addition, she was selected as the first female to host the interactive sports debate show, College Crossfire.
She honed her journalistic skills with internships at ESPN’s Longhorn Network, the Northwoods League, the Texas Golf Association, the Anti-Defamation League and Good Life Family Magazine.
In her free time, Jaxie enjoys being with close friends and her very large extended family. She also loves to travel anywhere there is sand and sunshine.
As an eternal optimist, her favorite motto is, “when nothing is going right, go left,” because life is filled with twists and turns, but there is always a path to reach your ultimate goals with the right attitude, a healthy dose of stamina and a good sense of humor.
