Matthew Stell is a Reporter and Weekend Anchor for KAMC-TV in Lubbock, Texas.
Matthew attended the University of Houston where he studied Communication with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and minored in Political Science. While at UH, he served as lead news anchor for CoogTV and later on, host of the network’s weekly in-depth news program The Rundown with Matthew Stell.
Before arriving at KAMC, Matthew interned at KLTV in Tyler, Texas, the Texas House of Representatives, and the Dallas County Magistrate’s Office.
Matthew has had the privilege of interviewing U.S. Senator John Cornyn, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, and Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta. He also covered President Donald Trump’s visit to West Texas in July 2020.
Matthew is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, the 100 Black Men of West Texas, and the National Speech and Debate Association. He is also a Lone Star Emmy award winner.
In his free time, Matthew enjoys watching football, traveling, and volunteering with his local church. He most recently traveled to Belize and the Turks and Caicos Islands as an international missionary.
Matthew is a native Texan who grew up in the Dallas area, but is proud to now be serving the South Plains!
