Guns as Gifts; Firearms Continue to be a Popular Christmas Gift

News

Business is picking back up for gun stores around Lubbock.

Charles Blackwell, owner of Sharp Shooters, said firearms have been popular Christmas gifts for the past decade.

This week he is happy buyers are doing some last minute shopping.

Blackwell said business has dropped since Donald Trump was elected president in November.

“Right after the election,” Blackwell said. “Yeah we had about a two week lull when things were pretty calm. We kind of forgot what business was like when a Republican was around.”

Blackwell said the election outcome is good for his business in the long run and business has picked back up for the holiday season.

This year, Blackwell said concealed carry guns are his biggest sellers, with rifles and long guns close behind.

What does he suggest for the gun lover in your life?

“Optics, binoculars and scopes are a really good gift item,” Blackwell said.  “Something that everyone always wants to upgrade and normally just don’t spend the money to do it. So that would be a good item for somebody that is hard to buy for.”
