Federal health officials warned parents that over the counter teething products can pose a risk to infants and children. The FDA said products that contain the drug benzocaine can cause rare but deadly side effects especially for children under two. The agency also asked manufacturers to add warnings on all oral health products that contain the numbing ingredient.
A new study showed long term use of antidepressants is linked to weight gain. Researchers in London found patients prescribed the 12 most common antidepressants were more likely to put on extra pounds than those not taking the drugs. The risk is greatest during the second and third years of treatment.
Seafood may help couples get pregnant faster. New research found that 92 percent of couples who ate seafood more than twice a week were pregnant at the end of one year, compared to 79 percent for couples who ate less seafood.
