The Radiology Department at Covenant Health Plainview sees around 20,000 – 30,000 patients a year.
Thanks to a $2.2 million renovation, those patients now have new and upgraded equipment for all their needs.
Updated equipment including new CT scans, ultrasounds, stress tests, and an MRI machine, a first for the department.
“We started with the MRI’s in the middle of August and that allowed us to get rid of a mobile service,” explained Radiology Manager Stephanie Evans. “So instead of having to plan around a mobile schedule we have MRI Monday through Friday 8 to 5.”
Evans says the best part of the renovation is the new patient waiting area.
“For the past 5 to 6 years our patients had to sit out in the hallway by the elevators which isn’t private and it’s like a wind tunnel,” explained Evans.
“Our goal when we first started this project and renovation was to offer more medical services closer to home,” said Chief Financial Officer Cassie Mogg. “And to be more convenient for patients which includes family and friends and our neighbors.”
And those neighbors came out Sunday, September 30th to bless the new space and see what the new upgrades will bring to the community.
“It was great to have the community come out and see the new space,” said Evans. “It just makes it so we can service them [patients] a little better.”
