LUBBOCK, Texas — On Thursday evening, Donnie Ray Willard, 43, was sentenced to 21 years in prison by a jury for aggravated kidnapping.

In August of last year, Willard got into an altercation with the victim, forced her into a vehicle at gunpoint and then left the area, according to police.

Officers located the vehicle with the victim and the suspect still inside at the 300 block of E. 42nd Street, stated by police.

At the time of his arrest, Willard was charged with aggravated kidnapping, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana, according to police documents.

According to an indictment, Willard was not permitted to have a firearm due to a conviction for assault of a public servant in 2001.
