Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputies and Department of Public Safety Troopers were led on a chase through Central Lubbock on Wednesday evening.
A photojournalist on scene said the chase ended near 48th Street and University Avenue around 8 p.m.
According to the photojournalist, one man was arrested after the chase ended peacefully.
The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office released this statement at 9:20 p.m.:
At approximately 7:30 pm, February 27, 2019, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a White 2002 Ford Explorer in the 1900 block of 45th St. for defective equipment.
After making contact with the driver he then fled from the traffic stop. Deputies then pursued the vehicle. After successful stop stick deployment the vehicle came to a stop at 48th St and University where the driver was taken into custody without incident.
Lubbock EMS arrived on scene as a precaution, and cleared the driver who refused medical treatment.
The driver is currently being transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center and will be charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle and Driving While License Invalid. The driver also had outstanding warrants.
