Lubbock Police arrested Robert Fulford, 44, Wednesday evening after a vehicle chase in Central Lubbock.

Officers were called to the Walmart location at 4215 South Loop 289 for the report of a theft.  Police were told a man was inside the store stealing knives.

“[An officer] observed [the suspect] running from Walmart and get into the listed red Mazda SUV,” a police report said.

The police report also said, “[The suspect] did not stop and started to evade arrest in a motor vehicle. A pursuit ensued in which [the suspect] drove into the neighborhood near 66th and Lynnhaven Avenue.”

Officers were able to take Fulford into custody in an alley near 66th Street and Joliet Avenue.

He was held Thursday morning in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $750 bond for theft and a $3,000 bond for evading police.
