Nathanael and Lucila Doria are the new captains at the Lubbock Salvation Army on 1111 16th Street. They arrived in the Hub City five days ago and already facing the triple digit heat.
“We have been part of the Salvation Army since 1991 in California, and before then we came from Mexico. This year we have been accepted as Salvation Army Officers and we are continuing our service,” Nathanael Doria said.
The Salvation Army’s “Beat the Heat” campaign will use their lobby for a “cooling station”, inviting those in need, homeless or not, to come cool off and have some water.
“Volunteers are a key part of the Salvation Army,” Doria said. “Financial donations are needed all the time to meet those needs of the people.”
Doria adding the Salvation Army puts the donations to great use for the community’s needs.
To donate to the campaign, bring supplies by The Salvation Army between the hours of 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. The Salvation Army is located at 1614 Avenue J.
