LUBBOCK, Texas -- Major restaurants such as Shipley's, The Cheesecake Factory, and P.F. Chang's have made their way to Lubbock, and now Braum's is following in their footsteps.
Out of their three planned Lubbock locations, one in particular was discussed by the Lubbock City Council.
City Councilman, Steve Massengale, said there was a zoning proposal made by Braum's that would allow them to occupy what was formerly known as South House, and build on that property.
"All zoning ordizances have two readings so this item passed unanimously in council," Massengale said.
On May 14, City Council heard the second reading and approved the proposal.
Assistant Building Official, Greg Zielinski, said now his department will take over and will perform several inspections once construction begins.
"Our job is to make sure that a structure is safe to occupy," Zielinski said. "So if you're going into a building to eat, you want to know that, your kids are going in there, and the general public, you want that building to be safe for them to be in."
