Lubbock ISD is hosting the first of four School Safety Community Meetings during the month of April. Each meeting will include a brief presentation about current district safety plans and will be followed by an opportunity for parents, staff and community members to provide input.
“The first purpose of these meetings is to listen to our parents, our community, students and employees about their concerns and their ideas,” said Nancy Sharp, Executive Director of Communications for Lubbock Independent School District.
Parents say this is an effective way to feel safe taking their kids to school.
“What I really appreciate about this is them taking our input. As they’re going around they’re asking each different elementary, middle and high school, their ideas and what can be changes. What do you like? What do you not like? And taking our input and listening. That’s what I’m really appreciative of tonight,” said Melissa McDougal, parent of two elementary school kids.
The schedule of meetings is as follows. All meetings will be from 6-7 PM:
April 23 – Estacado High School Cafeteria, 1504 E. Itasca
April 24 – Coronado High School Cafeteria, 4910 29th Dr.
April 30 – Monterey High School Cafeteria, 3211 47th St.
