Peggy Sue’s daughter honors her mother’s memory

Peggy Sue, the woman who inspired one of Buddy Holly’s famous songs passed away Monday. Peggy’s daughter, Amanda Stathos, said her mother died peacefully, from natural causes, surrounded by family.
“I think for here in Lubbock, it’s the way that Buddy changed the music, and my mom was able to be a part of that,” Stathos said.
After “Peggy Sue” was released, Stathos said her mom told her it changed her life forever.
“Of course, it changed her life dramatically. It was a surprise, and she had no clue they changed the name to Peggy Sue. It was a very enduring time for her,” Stathos said.
Peggy’s family will be hosting public funeral services on October 13 at 2 p.m. at the Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial off 82nd Street.
“She loved friends and loved the celebration. Even if it’s just the celebration of life, she was going on forth to keep Buddy alive and his memory as well,” Stathos said.
