In the next week, grocery bags from the South Plains Food Bank may appear in your mailbox. The annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive is on May 12, and letter carriers want you to start collecting now.
Stamp Out Hunger is the nation’s largest one-day food drive. South Plains Food Bank CEO David Weaver said this food drive is coming at a critical time.
“We are going into a hard time for a lot of families, especially families that have kids at home, and we see the inventories at the food bank dip,” Weaver said. “As we go into the spring, the food that we have collected in the winter is being used consistently and we need to replenish that supply.”
Stamp Out Hunger is on May 12. All you have to do is place nonperishable food items in a grocery bag and put it by your mailbox on May 12 to be picked up with your mail.
