LUBBOCK, Texas — Tyshaun Bates’ family said they’re still coping after the 20-year-old’s murder and they’re more than grateful for an increased Crimeline reward. They said it was a pleasant surprise after everything their family has gone through in the last week.

“If anyone has something to say, talk, say it,” said Latissue Tryon, Tyshaun’s mom, “Because if it was your baby, your nephew, or something like that you would want the same thing for you. Like when they took my baby, they took a really good man from me. They amputated my heart, they really did. That’s a piece of my body I will never get back.”

“We’ve been doing the same thing we normally always do is come together as a family,” said Leditt Butler, Tyshaun’s uncle, “You know, now we understand that when that family member is in need we have to really cater to that.”

Butler and Tryon couldn’t say enough about their relationship with Tyshaun. “That was my baby. That was my love. He was a clown, just like his momma, very loving, very caring. He was just an all around go-to person. Just cool. He never had a problem with nobody,” said Tryon.

The Crimeline reward is at $10,000 now after the Kerby and Wade Law Offices dedicated $5,000 dollars. They said they just want to help police catch the two murder suspects.

“Our firm cares about the community. We’re willing to help solve crimes,” said David Kerby with Kerby and Wade Law Offices, “They need to call if they have information because there’s not only the victims. There’s families and there’s loved ones and there’s also law enforcement. They’re trying to do their job and they need the public to help.”

“Sometimes we have to do the right thing. That’s what it boils down to,” said Butler.

Police said two men walked into Bates’ apartment and began arguing with him. One suspect shot him and both men ran away from the crime scene. Police said they’re still investigating the case and looking for the two suspects. If you have information that can help police, call Crimeline at 741-1000.
