LUBBOCK, Texas Homero Carrilo, 22, was identified as the man killed in an officer-involved shooting on Tuesday, according to a press release from the Lubbock Police Department.

According to the press release, officers received a call regarding a car that was reported stolen in the 6300 block of 31st Street. When officers arrived, Carillo ran from the car and attempted to run away from the scene, according to LPD.

LPD also said a patrol officer, an 18-year veteran of LPD, tried to use his TASER but was unsuccessful. Carillo pulled out a firearm, which led to the officer firing multiple rounds from his “duty weapon, striking Carrillo,” according to the release.

Danielle Manzanares, 24, was also in the car, tried to run from the scene, and was later caught in the 6000 block of 29th Street, LPD said.

Carillo was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS. Manzanares was taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center and charged with Evading on Foot, Possession of Marijuana and an unrelated charge.

LPD said the officer was not injured and was placed on administrative leave, which was department policy.
