Emergency responders on Monday found a body floating in Lady Bird Lake in Austin which is near the general area where a Texas Tech graduate went missing.
However, Austin Police said the body has not been identified and cannot initially be tied to any missing person case.
Martin Gutierrez, 25, was last seen Monday, November 19, at approximately 1:00 a.m. Gutierrez graduated from Texas Tech University with a business degree in December 2017.
At the time of his disappearance, police said there was no reason to suspect foul play.
Around 9:50 a.m. Monday, a caller reported someone in the river near the 1300 block of East Riverside Drive. Austin-Travis County EMS reported the person was dead and that the Austin Fire Department launched a boat to get to the body.
KXAN.com said some of those same people who had been searching for Gutierrez were at the scene on Monday.
