Work to rebuild the Boston Avenue crosswalk at US 62 (SH 114 / 19th Street) continues this week. Beginning today, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is closing the 19th Street free-right turn lane onto northbound Boston Avenue and the Boston free-right turn lane onto westbound 19th Street.
All traffic will continue to have access to both 19th Street and Boston Avenue.
Weather permitting, work to rebuild the Flint Avenue crosswalk is scheduled to begin tomorrow. The work will require the Flint mainlanes to be closed to thru-traffic but motorists will still having access to 19th Street. The lanes are expected to reopen to traffic early next week.
Motorists should expect some delays and are advised to watch out for workers and construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.
The work is part of a $2.62 million project to make roadway and pedestrian safety improvements to 19th Street and is anticipated to be completed in October 2017.
