Gregory Jerome Mitchell, 33, of Lubbock, also known as Jimmy Jombo Kalu, was sentenced Friday to nearly 22 years in federal prison.
Mitchell accepted a plea deal in September and admitted he had 168.32 grams of cocaine. The official charge was possession with intent to distribute and the charge was in a category of more than 28 grams but less than 280 grams.
Court records said in May of 2017, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office used a confidential informant to purchase $3,600 worth of cocaine from Mitchell. Mitchell agreed to meet the informant in the 1500 block of East 25th Street. Mitchell was “kept under constant surveillance” as he went from his home in West Lubbock to the other address.
Mitchell was arrested in August and was held in the Lubbock County Detention Center since that time.
