A grand jury on Tuesday indicted a former Coronado High School teacher for an improper relationship with a student.

Scott Riley Hall, 40, of Lubbock was arrested on October 1 and released on a $100,000 bond on October 9. Hall has also been charged with enticement of a minor (which is a different charge related to the same underage girl).

Lubbock ISD said Hall resigned on October 5.  The school district placed him on administrative leave at the time of his arrest.

Court records said Hall, who had been an art teacher, had a sexual relationship with a student.  The girl was 16, according to court records.  Even if the girl had not been underage, high school teachers are forbidden under state law from having sexual relationships with their students.

Lubbock Police were called to a residence on September 30 when a woman wanted to report that her underage daughter was having a sexual relationship with a teacher.  Hall had been given a key to the woman’s apartment to help keep an eye on the girl.

When confronted, Hall admitted to police and school officials that he had fallen in love with the girl.
