One person was killed in a rollover crash on the West Loop 289 frontage road near 12th Street around 2:15 a.m. on Friday.

Lubbock Police and EMS responded to the crash, to find one car had flipped, and the driver had already died. 

Investigators said they believe the car was driving south bound on the access road when it left the roadway, hit the retaining wall and then rolled, before coming to a stop.

No other cars were involved, and the driver was in the car alone. 

Police shut down the frontage road between Frankford Avenue and 12th Street for around four hours overnight, but the roads are now open and traffic should flow normally. 

Lubbock Police said the Major Crash Investigation Unit is currently on scene. An investigation is on-going.
