A Lubbock Police officer was released from University Medical Center on Friday morning after being involved in a crash Thursday evening at 82nd Street and Avenue U. Police arrested the other driver, Patricia Marlene Holt, 57, after the crash for DWI.
Kasie Whitley, public information assistant for LPD, said the officer was traveling east on 82nd Street. The other vehicle was traveling westbound on 82nd Street, turning left on Avenue U.
One of the initial 911 calls came from the officer, Whitley said.

At 7:48 p.m. on Thursday, March 22nd, Lubbock Police received reports of an officer involved crash in the intersection of 82nd street and Avenue U.
Upon arrival, responding officers located the officer involved in the crash, a member of the Lubbock Police Department K-9 unit. The officer was transported to UMC with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The K-9 was not injured, and was transported from the scene.
Through the course of the initial investigation, officers were able to determine the officer was traveling east on 82nd street, while the passenger vehicle, which was traveling west, turned south (left) on Avenue U, at which time the two vehicles collided.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, 57-year-old Patricia Holt, was not injured and was arrested at the scene following a DWI investigation.
Members of the Lubbock Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate.
