Gas Leak 4th Elder 720

LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock Fire Rescue and other first responders were called to East 4th Street and Elder Avenue for a gas leak.  Five homes were evacuated, LFR said.

The call came in Monday at about 2:25 pm.  The location is about two blocks west of 4th and Idalou Road. LFR said a construction crew hit a 2-inch gas line.

Citibus also responded in case the residents needed a place to go during the evacuations.  However, LFR said all the residents were able to evacuate on their own.  Residents will be allowed back as soon as the leak is stopped.  Atmos Energy was on scene to repair the gas line.
