The following is a news release from the City of Lubbock:

On Wednesday, September 19, Keep Lubbock Beautiful and the City of Lubbock Water Department will present their first Landscape Recognition Award to McPherson Cellars. The ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. in McPherson Cellars, located at 1615 Texas Avenue.

Every month, the Keep Lubbock Beautiful Advisory Committee will select a new winner for recognition. The Landscape Recognition Award recognizes businesses and organizations with landscaping that promotes and encourages water-wise awareness. Some of the criteria in choosing the winning landscapes includes consideration in having more plants than grass, native and/or drought tolerant species and well-maintained planting beds.

Citizens can find information about nomination criteria and submit nominations for the Landscape Recognition Award by visiting mylubbock.us/KLBLandscape. The recognized landscapes will receive a certificate to commemorate their contribution to keeping Lubbock beautiful. An online photo gallery with award recipients will also be available on the Keep Lubbock Beautiful webpage and Facebook page @KeepLubbockBeautiful.

Keep Lubbock Beautiful is a local affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Texas Beautiful. The Advisory Committee consists of eleven community members volunteering to spread the ideals of beautification and civic pride throughout the city. Working with the City of Lubbock, the organization encourages citizens to participate actively in making and keeping Lubbock a beautiful place to live.
